TA-TA TO THE TETONS

Today we say ta-ta to the Tetons…albeit a little reluctantly…

and begin the second half of our journey…a return trip to NC.

Those snow capped mountains reaching to the sky have kept us both enraptured…

knowing their beauty in words or photos can never be truly captured.

Their beauty and wonder have made us sigh while hiking or driving in our car….

which has made me wonder if the Tetons know just how beautiful they are.

Does the elk ever think she’s beautiful as she stops to take a break…

to get a drink of water…when she sees her reflection in the lake?

Does one bison think, ‘how beautiful,’ when he looks another bison in the eye?

Do trees think about their beauty as they reach up to the sky

Does the sky think she is beautiful or the rivers or the seas?

Is beauty even a subject for the butterflies or the bees?

Or does nature know every part of her is beautiful…that she is so astute…

to understand her beauty all beauty is universal…which renders the question moot.

For she knows as beautiful as each part is…no beauty can compare

with the beauty of her beauty when all her beauty has been shared.

Nature does not separate one part from another…to her that thinking is bizarre…

“It’s only when we blend together,” she says, “we know how beautiful we are”.

So as we say ta-ta to the Tetons..as we head out with the rising of the sun…

we wish people were more like nature and saw the beauty in everyone.
