From the Old Faithful Inn to Jackson Hole Wyoming is a relatively short trip.
You might say, if you were so inclined, it’s just a hop…a jump and a skip…
Unless, of course, the road is closed…because of ice and snow…
In that case it’s a four hour trip…through the state of Idaho.
But we didn’t mind this trip would take us a few hours more…
because neither one of us had ever been to Idaho before.
And here’s something we realized as through many of her back roads we wove…
Idaho is beautiful…at least the part we drove.
Farm country flanked by mountains…blue sky…clouds filling up the air…
Farmers beginning to plant their crops…that means potatoes everywhere.
We stopped at one particularly spot….to get out and enjoy the view
when another car filled with people pulled int to see it too.
Turns out they were just at Yellowstone…how coincidental could that be
and were heading to the Tetons…just like Deborah and me.
They were one-third of a family traveling together…this is the part we saw…
There was the mother, her sons, their wives (one pregnant)…traveling with grandpa.
We had a moment to speak with Mom who was happy they had this chance…
to travel as a family and each life to enhance.
Four generations traveling together….led by one extremely proud and happy mother…giving her entire family a chance to learn from one another.
Because there is no better way, Mom said, to understand the importance of family
than doing things together…and sharing a memory.
After talking with them a while…when it came time to go
we took their picture as they stood in the middle of a road in Idaho.
To remind us in any detour…the wonders we might see……
beautiful country…
beautiful sky…
beautiful rivers…
beautiful family.
