One of the pleasures they found in being retired…
once their careers came to an end…
is how time once a kind of enemy…has now become a treasured friend.
It’s not that they stopped living…not like their life is through…
but without the limits time puts on them…
they can do more of the things they want to do.
More time to travel…more places to go…more things to see…
more time to just do nothing…more time with family.
More time to do those projects they could never get to before…
more time for long extended walks down new pathways to explore.
More time to enjoy the fog, the flowers, the animals, the trees
more time to sit back and enjoy a lifetime filled with happy memories….
They were sitting together reliving some old memories the other day…
memories old…and new
without a worry as to how much time it took
this bundle of memories to wade through…
When they both agreed, how lucky they’ve been
to have lived a life
filled with so many memories they can easily awake…
while at the same time looking forward to the future…
and all the memories they’ve yet to make.
