The other day as I watched the trees swaying in the wind…
I was at first excited…then for a moment…a bit chagrinned.
The harder the wind blew…the more the trees swayed
and what I found entrancing….
was there seemed a method to their movement
as if the trees were dancing.
Immediately I started thinking how this doesn’t seem quite fair…
why was I hearing wind…while the trees heard music in the air.
I know there are sounds across the audio spectrum…
which, will reach our ears…
but come in frequencies far above the sounds that we can hear.
And so I wondered:
Whether carried in loud upon the wind…or softly on a breeze…
could it be there are sounds in nature designed only for the trees?
Music that is not created or meant for human ears…
Music that is destined for only trees to hear.
With that in mind…every time I hear the wind…
at the trees I’ll quickly glance….
though I may not hear their music
I still love to watch them dance.
