We love to take the back roads when we travel…
We resolve as we begin to take our time, have some fun…
and stay at a comfortable inn.
But lately at the inns we stay…I find no comfort there at all.
It has to do with the giant mirror spread across the bathroom wall.
I mean, come on! only one person uses the bathroom at a time.
It’s not a place where people flock.
Why do we need a mirror…the size of a city block?
Mirrors that never fog up…at least they seldom do.
Mirrors that enhance and magnify…every flaw you have on you.
Every wrinkle, every line…every cranny…every nook..
They’re all there in the mirror…everywhere you look.
A mirror that faces the shower…which means you’re in for a terrible fright…
when you pull back the curtain stark naked…
trust me…
it’s not a pretty sight.
There is no way around it…with that big mirror in the way…
Instead of the macho man I’m looking for…
I see a wrinkled old Shar-Pei…
So now when I step up to the front desk of any motel…
I can’t make myself any clearer….
when I ask for a room with a comfortable bed….
and please…no bathroom mirror.
