When our children (and grandchildren) were born
when their lives were brand new and undefined
our dreams for them were simple…
that they be healthy happy and kind.
As we watched them grow each day…
from a room in our hearts where no one else could see…
we dreamt of the life they might have…of the people they might be.
We thought we knew what was best for them…
at least that’s what we believed.
until our dreams were replaced
by the dreams they themselves conceived
And we’re not sure when it happened….
in the course of life’s affairs
the day, the moment the exact time…
our dreams gave way to theirs.
But that day with smiles on our faces…
we let our children and grandchildren know…
we were happy to support them…
wherever they and their dreams may go.
Happy to ride along on their journey…and any dreams they may pursue
Happy to be nearby and to help when needed…to make all their dreams come true.
And as we look back to the dreams we made when they were born
when their lives were brand new and undefined…
we’re happy to see they’ve all grown up
to be happy, healthy and kind.
We never knew what would happen as we made those dreams
when our children and grandchildren were brand new
but many is the day we sit back and smile
all these years later….knowing those dreams came true.
