Before the storm we wait…we are anxious…we have no idea where it will go
Our minds tend to think the worst…for there’s so much we don’t know.
Before the storm we pray to every God…to the Earth, the Wind, to the Sea
and we do the best we can to prepare ourselves for its eventuality.
During the storm we wait…we are anxious…we know there’s nothing more we can do
And we hope and pray the storm will end and thy sky return to blue.
After the storm we step outside…unsure of what we’ll find
Anxious to know what the storm has taken from us…
and what she’s left behind.
After the storm we lick our wounds we check for bruises, check our scars
For it is after the storm when we discover…who we truly are…
After the storm when we look around…what do we hear and see?
We see the sun is shining…we hear the birds are singing
So after the storm…why shouldn't we?
The storm wins if we let sadness overtake us…if sorrow becomes our norm
But if we face the aftermath with joy in our hearts…then we defy the storm.
Yes, after the storm is over…after the distress, the anguish…the pain
After the storm one thing’s for certain…
We’ll never again be bothered by the rain.
