Measuring The Moon

“What’s this picture?” her daughter asked one night
and it caused her mom to swoon.
“That’s the day your daddy said he loved me!” she answered,
“and he’s measuring the moon.”

“He said: The moon doesn’t look so very big
when you measure it rim to rim...
but it illuminates the world...
and its light will never dim.”

“He said: His heart is like the moon...
not very big when measured or weighed
But his love will illuminate my life forever
and it’s light will never fade.”

And every night when I look at the moon
I think how lucky I have been...
Now go get yourself ready for bed
and we’ll be up to tuck you in.

When they walked into her room to say good night
once again that day her heart did swoon...
Their daughter was sitting at the window...
and she was measuring the moon.
