I Wonder About Elephants
We can learn much from the elephant...I am of this belief...
Like how to forgive, respect, and help one another...like how to share our grief.
Like finding joy in little things...like reaching for the sky...
Like never doubting whether or not...we have the ability to fly.

I Wonder About Sadness
When sadness touches someone’s heart...we want to make it go away,
But, no matter how we search for words...we don’t know what to say...
So we offer a smile...a touch...a hug...and soon that person learns
We will ride with them in sadness...until happiness returns.

I Wonder About Freedom
I like to take a walk before the sun has yet to rise
I walk alone among deserted streets while darkness fills my eyes.
There is a freedom I feel while walking from my home and back
I wonder...would I feel as free...if I was Muslim...If I was black?

I Wonder About Taking Chances
Don’t ever be afraid to take a chance...to sail those seven seas...
To climb the highest mountain...to get lost among the trees...
For everybody fails...and everyone has scars
But if you choose to sleep the night away...you’ll never see the stars.

I Wonder About Misinterpreting God
I wonder if I’m crazy...or perhaps a little odd
But I think many people today are misinterpreting their God.
It’s simple really, GOD DOES NOT HATE!...not me...not them...not you...
Which makes me wonder...why, in god’s name...so many people do?

I Wonder About Love and Hate
Hatred is like a wildfire that, if not extinguished, gets out of hand
Burning everything within its path...reaping destruction on the land.
Love is more like water...and of this I have do doubt...
For it is only love...and love...and more love...that can put that fire out.

I Wonder About Adding Beatuy to the Earth
If each drop of water adds beauty to the river as it flows
And each tiny petal adds its beauty to the rose...
Then it stands to reason each person...from the moment of their birth
Enhances this world we live in...by adding beauty to the Earth.

I Wonder About Money
Money is important...I’m sure we all know why...
But there are many things in this life money cannot buy.
It cannot buy us joy...or peace...and sooner or later we find
It doesn’t cost a thing to smile...not one penny to be kind.

I Wonder Why We're In Such A Hurry
I wonder why people are in such a hurry to live life at a fast pace
I think they take too literally the term, ‘The Human Race’.
I wonder how the view would be if every now and then we’d glide...
If we stopped to smell the roses...if we slowed down to enjoy the ride.

I Wonder About Dreams and Memories
When I was young I’d wonder if dreams and memories had an affinity...
Memories could show me what I have...and dreams...of what could be.
But the older I get, I must admit, I’ve acquired a different view
For memories now remind me...of all my dreams that have come true.

I Wonder About Echoes Of The Past
We live in the present but echoes of the past have formed our history.
Yet often we ignore them...or are jut too blind to see
That for Earth to have a future...a future that will last...
We must open our eyes to the lessons taught...by echoes of the past.

I Wonder About Fatherhood
I wonder about fatherhood...and its roller coaster ride
Filled with as many highs and lows a body can abide...
Along the way you feel every emotion a person’s ever had
And you know it’s worth it every time you hear...I love you, Dad!

I Wonder If We're Not All The Same
We may speak different languages...have different features...different names.
But we are first and foremost humans...which means we’re all the same.
The Gods we worship may speak different languages...have different features...different names...
Which makes me wonder if...like us humans...all Gods are the same?

I Wonder How We Survive Sorrow
A smile, a laugh, a hug, a touch...all those things you share.
Watching children as they play, music, sunsets...when I had hair
Spring flowers, holding hands and dreaming of tomorrow
I wonder if slowly remembering joy...is how we survive a sorrow?

I Wonder How We Bring Back Love
I wonder how we bring back love...in a world so determined to hate...
Perhaps by reaching out to one another...before it is too late!
For hate...hate grows so quickly...without a reason...or a rhyme
While love...love must be nurtured...one person at a time.

I Wonder About Weapons Of Mass Destruction
Soon after the towers fell and well before reconstruction
George Bush led us into war to find Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction...
Off to fight we sent our children, to Iraq we did deploy them
To search for weapons (they never found), to find them and destroy them.
How ironic is it that today in America a person needs no introduction
To purchase a semi-automatic rifle...his own weapon of mass destruction.
Why aren’t we finding any means...instead of letting death annoy us..
To eliminate these weapons (we know where they are) before they can destroy us.

I Wonder About The Math Of Love And Hate
I wish more people were good in math...especially their basic facts...
Love is a plus...it adds to the world...Hate, as a minus...subtracts.
Hate divides us...it tears us apart...and often wears a disguise
Love is open and honest...and with our help...it multiplies.

I Wonder About Hatred
I wonder when a man says he want’s to make America great again...is he really being sincere
When he works so hard to make America hate again...and live in terror, narrow-mindedness and fear.
If you look back through the history of our planet...From the time humans began to evolve
How many problems has hatred created...and how many has it resolved?
I Wonder About Nature's Poetry
I wonder why the mountains grow so tall...and the canyons run so deep?
Why does the ocean touch the sky...and what makes the willow weep?
Could it be we all need beauty...and a little mystery...
Provided for us daily...by nature’s poetry?

Provided for us daily...by nature’s poetry?

I Wonder About World Religions
I wonder if you searched the world’s religions...no matter what the name
Would you find they share similar language...that many doctrines are the same?
And though their Gods may look different...the Gods they hold most dear...
In the wake of a mass murder...any murder...don’t all Gods shed a tear?

I Wonder About Guns
The 2nd Amendment gives people the right to keep arms and the right to bear them.
And no one wants to abolish that right even though those guns may scare them.
It’s a way of life for some...a right we’ll defend until our last breath...
But isn’t there something we can do when that way of life...becomes a way of death?
I Wonder What Religion To Teach
There are those who believe their religion, like reading, should be taught in the school.
If you don’t believe in their God, they think you’re misguided...a fool.
Now if that religion is kindness...acceptance...and compassion...then Hey!
I say teach it everywhere, everyday, to everybody...teach away...by all means...teach away!
If you don’t believe in their God, they think you’re misguided...a fool.
Now if that religion is kindness...acceptance...and compassion...then Hey!
I say teach it everywhere, everyday, to everybody...teach away...by all means...teach away!

I Wonder About Time Travel
They say time travel is impossible...I’m not one who totally agrees...
You see yesterday, while with old friends, we shared some memories.
We sat around together...remembering...unafraid
As we traveled back to the place and time...those memories were made..

I Wonder About Mistakes
I wonder about mistakes...for no one is immune
If you haven’t made one yet...you’re bound to make one soon.
But we can learn from our mistakes...it’s true...you must not doubt it...
It’s part of being human...make no mistake about it.

I Wonder About The Dichotomy of Dreams
We are a wonderful mix of reality and fantasy...of which dreams play a part
In harmonizing what’s inside our brains...with what’s inside our hearts...
During the day we live the life we’ve chosen...this is our reality..
But at night when all is quiet...we dream of what could be.

I Wonder About Justice
I wonder about justice...in America it’s a word spoken all the time
Yet a college student rapes a girl and gets 6 months for his crime?
I wonder...would justice be better served if, on his sentencing date,
It was the victim and her family...who decided on his fate?

I Wonder About A Meatloaf Sandwich
I wonder what my wife sees in a meatloaf sandwich (vegetarian of course)
Where does it’s charm come from, what’s it’s origin...it’s source
I’m not sure what she sees in it, I’m not sure what that could be...
But I know she now looks at that sandwich like she once looked at me.

I Wonder About Giving Advice To Our Children
I wonder how we give advice to our children...how do parents pass this test?
I look to Harry Truman for I think he said it best.
He said when giving advice, don’t worry, there’s really nothing to it
Find out what your children want to do...and advise them...they should do it.

I Wonder About Our Smile
When I think about the joy of life...the joy we feel and see...
I wonder if our smile doesn’t somehow hold the key?
For the key to joy is laughter...and it is very clear to me...
Laughter is the joy...our smile has set free.

Stung Like A Bee
When I was young I watched boxing with my Dad and no one could deny
There was only one boxer in the world who could float like a butterfly.
He floated less as he grew older...his fights now a faded memory...
Still the news of his death, one might say...stung us...like a bee.
There was only one boxer in the world who could float like a butterfly.
He floated less as he grew older...his fights now a faded memory...
Still the news of his death, one might say...stung us...like a bee.
I Wonder If Your Wrold Would End Tomorrow
I wonder...if your world would end tomorrow...if you thought there was a chance
Would you sing a little louder today...would you laugh more...would you dance?
Would you tell someone you love them...would you open up your heart...
If you knew...that come tomorrow...you’d forever be apart?

I Wonder What Matters
Is pride important to a peacock? Does a cheetah dream about speed?
Does strength matter to an elephant...or size to a millipede?
Is beauty valued by a butterfly...or acclaim to a honeybee?
So I wonder...if these aren’t important to other creatures on Earth...why should they matter to me?

I Wonder About Optimist and the Pessimist
I wonder about the optimist and the pessimist, who look at birth and sigh...
The optimist thinks we begin to live, the pessimist...we begin to die.
While both views may be accurate, too much happiness would be missed
By viewing the world through pessimistic eyes...so I choose the optimist.

I Wonder About Music
I wonder about music...how a simple melody
Can make me smile, or cry, or fall in love...as it creates a memory.
Mere words cannot express the magic...but, in the end I do not care
Because life is so much sweeter...when there’s music in the air.
