To all those willing to take away the rights of innocent people…
willing to watch hungry people around the world starve…as their own bellies balloon…
Perhaps it’s time to revisit the Parable of the Long Spoons.
What’s the difference between Heaven and Hell a man asked one day…
when he found his cancer had no cure.
That night an angel visited him…and took him on a tour.
Their first stop was Heaven…where this man happily observed…
a table that filled a banquet hall…and dinner being served.
The man couldn’t help but smile as they stepped in through the door.
The room was filled with more food than he had ever seen before.
Everyone was talking, laughing…they looked contented, healthy and strong.
one thing caught his attention however….they all held spoons that were 4 feet long.
Before he had a chance to ask …the angel took him into Hell…
where once again he observed….
a table filling a banquet hall…and dinner being served.
Again he smiled as he stepped in through the door
For, just like heaven, this room was filled with more food than he had ever seen before.
But the people in this room weren’t talking, weren’t laughing…
they were weak and emaciated…the entire throng…
and just like in Heaven he noticed they all had spoons that measured 4 feet long.
The old man turned to his heavenly tour guide…“Please, I don’t understand.” He said.
“If they’re both served the same food…why in Hell is everyone going hungry
while in Heaven they are all well-fed.?”
“It’s really very simple,” the angel said. “In Hell people only think of themselves…
they have yet to find a way…
to feed themselves with their long spoons…
so they go hungry every day.”
In Heaven people care less about themselves
and more about their sisters and their brothers…
and when they’re hungry they pick up their spoons..
and simply,
feed each other.
