DAILY GRATITUDE THINGS I CANNOT SEE

Today I’m grateful for all the things I cannot see…

Like the love of my family and friends in my mind I hear

even when I cannot see them…

reminding me they’re here.

THE BEAUTY WE POSSESS

How much easier is it so see the beauty in the world

If we happened to be blessed…

first with the ability to see

the beauty we possess.

CELEBRATING THINGS I CANNOT SEE

Wherever I go it’s easy to celebrate all the beauty in front of me…

the sunsets, the trees, the flowers, the ocean…

all those things my eyes can see.

But every now and then this impulse surfaces in me…

that makes me want to stop and celebrate

all the things I cannot see.

I cannot see the wind…I can only feel her breeze

I cannot see the crickets who serenade me in the morning

or the birds singing from the darkness of their trees.

I cannot see the aroma of fresh baked cookies, cake or bread.

I cannot see how far in life one act of kindness or giving will spread.

I cannot see the air I breathe…but I know it’s there.

I cannot see, unless you show me, just how much you care.

I cannot see the music when I hear my favorite song.

I cannot see the actual bonds that make a marriage strong.

I cannot see your sadness without first seeing your tears…

I cannot see your words of love as they travel to my ears.

Yes, with my eyes open I am constantly amazed

at all the beauty I observe in front of me…

but every now and then I like to close my eyes

and think about

all those things I cannot see.

DAILY GRATITUDE PARENTS

Today I’m grateful for my parents…

For this simple genetical reason why…

If my parents didn’t have any children

there’s a good chance…neither would have I

3 PLACES

May we be blessed to always show up for our children

In 3 important places…no matter how much they’ve grown

In front of them…to cheer them on

behind them…to have their back

and next to them…so they’ll never feel alone.

FAMILY QUILT

Among her many talents Deborah loves to quilt.

Watching her piece one together the other day…I started thinking…

how it’s the same way a family is built.

Two people meet…they fall in love…and before they know

their fabrics are sewn together and their quilt begins to grow.

Through the years they add children to their quilt…

and sewn within it’s seams…

are the different colors, hues and textures of their wishes, hopes and dreams.

The quilt grows even larger…for where would a family quilt be…

without aunts, uncles, nieces nephews and friends…the rest of their family.

They notice right away when they add another patch…then more and more and more

as each new color and pattern blends with others…

their quilt is more beautiful than before.

And there is something they also notice…

every time their family quilt spreads out…

is that connecting all the pieces…

is a thread of love throughout.

What makes each family quilt unique…just like each family tree

is that it’s constantly reshaping…like the waves upon the sea.

Once the children leave..as children do…when they’re fully grown

They leave a patch with you…

and take a patch…to start a family of their own.

And at first there is a tinge of sadness…but as days and years elapse…

you find how easily and beautifully…your two quilts overlap.

Before you know it you have a multitude of quilts…

That within your heart you're keeping.

Perhaps that’s why as you grow older

you have no trouble sleeping.

DAILY GRATITUDE MOTHER NATURE

Today I’m grateful for the art of Mother Nature…

her landscapes I prefer…

for no artist who ever was

or is

can paint any better than her
