Today I’m thankful for one of the truly beautiful paradoxes of life
Time…
and all she’s given to me…
and for her ability to be priceless…
at the same time…she is free.
Today I’m thankful for one of the truly beautiful paradoxes of life
Time…
and all she’s given to me…
and for her ability to be priceless…
at the same time…she is free.
Basic addition teaches us that 2 + 2 are four…
and how each day we are one day older than we were the day before…
If you think that you are different…that it’s not happening to you…
a quick look in the mirror will prove how this is true.
But every now and then…defying the lessons we learned in school
time allows us a quick visit to the past as she disregards her rules.
Our family, like all families, through the years has grown…
with many of our family members now living on their own.
But when our family comes together…like this Christmas
(although it really doesn’t matter where or when)
In those moments we share together we all seem young again…
Yes, we’ve all grown a little older…some of us are more wrinkled
and our hairs’ a shade of grey…
but when our family gets together…it’s our inner children who come out to play.
We hug, we laugh, we eat pizza,
it’s a day filled with old traditions as a couple new surprises
we even play a silly game and and hand out cheap door prizes!.
And when I think I’m crazy….that this couldn’t be happening to me…
I look into the mirror…and there…a younger me I see.
I hope this Christmas everyone out there is as blessed and lucky as me
that you all feel a little younger…a little more innocent…and free…
And, for a moment, one brief moment, you get to experience life as it’s meant to be…
When time lets down her guard…and…2 + 2…are three.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS
Today I’m thankful for love
And if you haven’t already found it…
this wish I have for you…
That the day you do find true love
is the same day true love finds you…
One of the things I love about love is how it is so tiny from the start
but grows each day in its ability to make us laugh to make us cry…to even cure our heart.
How love is an entire universe within itself…continuously expanding
defying the laws of nature…and our simple understanding.
Just look at all the things we love…from the moment we come to be
Let’s start at the beginning…with friends and family.
As our friends and family grow…in age and shape and size…
our love does not diminish…in fact…it multiplies.
Every time we love a new friends or family member…it’s like our heart opens a door
to another room filled with love…a room we didn’t know existed before.
Even when our friends and family are made of different colors,
have different interests…different names…
We find our love is so accepting…we love them all the same.
And as we smile thinking of our friends and family…and how our love fills the air
we come to realize when we look around…our love does not stop there.
We love sunrises, sunsets, the stars that shine at night…the ability to dream
We love oceans, animals, pizza…chocolate and ice cream.
We love walking through the fog…mountains in the mist…
If you’re following the logic of this poem…we even love making lists!
And one of the wonders of love is how it never fits into a single frame
That though our lists will have some similarities…not two lists are the same.
I guess the one thing all our love has in common…a fact definitely worth knowing
is how, from the time when we are young…our list is always growing…
The point is…love…in all it’s forms has this uniques ability to lift us up…to make us soar
always giving us more opportunities to love…more possibilities to explore.
May we all experience this wonderful universe…where love is all around…
the loves we cherish each and every day…and the loves still waiting to be found.
Today I’m thankful for the clouds…
and the way their shapes stir my imagination as they float about
for in them I’ve seen castles, horses, rabbits…dragons
and every now and then…an angel peeking out.
The sky was a blanket of clouds this morning…no birds were singing…no rabbits leaping.
I imagine underneath that blanket…a million stars were sleeping.
I miss the stars when they’re asleep…when our morning walk we cannot share…
but I do take some solace and find some comfort in knowing they’re still there.
So…while the stars were sleeping and I was walking on my own…
I decided, on a whim, to flip through the pictures on my phone.
Like most people, I imagine, my phone is filled to capacity
with pictures from my life…photos of places, friends and family.
And I thought…how wonderful…how exciting…my phone is a memoir…
filled, as I flipped through photos…with a myriad of stars.
Shooting stars…flashing for a moment…as shooting stars are prone…
but a moment I feel blessed…to have captured on my phone.
And in my heart and in my mind…a new thought was given birth:
How lucky I am to be surrounded by so many stars on Earth.
Stars right here on my phone…that I forever shall be keeping…
an awareness made on a cloudy night…
while all the other stars were sleeping.
Today I’m thankful for my ability to read…and write…
with the hope that in my life…these two keep reuniting…
That I have been able to write something worth reading…
or to have done something worth writing
And my thanks to Benjamin Franklin whose writings I have read…
And to his particular quote…that put this thought inside my head.
