I Wonder About Beauty

I wonder about beauty and often wonder why
If beauty is, indeed, in each beholder’s eye

Then wouldn’t this world we live in be a wonderful place to be
If everyone could find the beauty in everything they see?

I Wonder About Terrorism

I wonder about terrorism, how can something so sinister grow
How’s it possible for people to hate people they don’t know?

Then I see fear grip this country...and seeds of hatred grow...
And terror win when we begin to hate people we don’t know.

I Wonder About The Butterfly

I wonder about our friend the butterfly and its metamorphosis
How it develops slowly into beauty one can’t miss.

How every stage is vital if it’s to soar into the sky
And I think...we’re not so different than our friend the butterfly.

I Wonder About Earth's Name

I wonder who gave Earth her name, the origin is obscure
Ask around and you will find even experts are unsure.

Which makes me wonder and I’ve expressed this thought to both my sons and daughter
Why name a planet after dirt...when most of it is water?

I Wonder About Labels

I wonder about labels, not on the things we drink or eat
But the way we humans label other humans whom we meet.

Labels highlight our differences and of this we must beware
Lest we forget the many traits and similarities we share.

I Wonder About Women's Rights

I wonder about women...who work hard, who nurture, who give birth...
Yet they don’t have as many rights as the men upon this Earth.

I think, perhaps, as the song says...Nothin’ would be fina
If the only ones deciding what’s right for women...had breasts and a vagina.

I Wonder About Human Rights

I wonder about people who think for Goodness or God’s sake
That human rights are not for all, but theirs to give and take.

For Goodness or for God’s sake civilization will never advance too far
Until everyone has the same rights...no matter who they are.
